This century, so far, has plagued with war. The emergence of terrorism has resulted in attacks like 9/11 and 7/7; these attacks lead to the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, which still continue. The demands of many nations for democracy and an end to dictators has seen civil wars and riots break out in multiple countries, Libya, Syria, Bahrain and Egypt to name a few, this has come to be known as the Arab Spring and has resulted in the removal of many corrupt, dictatorial regimes. This decade has also seen the election of the first Black American President and a huge financial crash. The bailout of banks has put countries into debts amassing to billions and the collapses of business have put millions out of work. The Euro has also been questioned and measures across the international community have had to cut spending, increase taxation, a few even declaring bankruptcy and needing bailing out, such as Ireland ad Greece. These harsh policies have caused widespread unpopularity resulting in riots, such as those in France and Greece.
This century has only just begun and will produce many famous people, events, inventions and discoveries worthy of a mention on this site, but as to who and what these will be, only the future will tell.
