WHEN WAS THAT?

Search by Event:

Ever felt as if your historical knowledge is lacking? People refer to an event and you don't know what it was, who was involved or when it happened? Well this website is here for people like you. It contains a page on some of the most famous events and times in history, including the ones people often assume general knowledge about. The aim of the site is not to provide a detailed analysis of why something happened, but to give an overview of an event. It therefore does not contain reference to every contributory cause for the event in question, nor does it include an account of the actions of every participant who took part; it merely states the main ones. The idea is that each page will not take long to read, nor will it overwhelm you with information for you to forget. There are references at the bottom of the page to other sites, that provide more and deeper knowledge, should, as I hope will happen, you discover an interest and decide to investigate further. This website is work in progress and is, as yet, in its infancy, I hope over time it will expand and develop, but at the moment it is impossible for me to include every historical event and I therefore apologise in advance if the site does not contain the particular event you are after.
Who Am I?
I am a sixth form History student. I love to read and learn about the past and hope to read History at university next year. Using this site I wish to expand not only my own knowledge, but also those of its readers. As well I hope, to make History interesting and approachable for those who may not wish to gain a degree in it, but just want to know more. If you learn just one thing from this site, I will be happy. If you follow up on an event and research more, I will be ecstatic.
Questions? - How to Contact Me?
As much as I wish it, this site cannot contain a page on every event in History, nor can I include every piece of about a time on one page. If you have any questions, or if you have an event in mind, which you found intriguing or would like to know more about, then please contact me, I would love to hear from you - lianna@whenwasthat.org.uk

I have tried, as far as I can, to only include accurate information, if you believe that anything I have stated is incorrect, again, please I want to hear from you. The aim of this site is to educate, not to deceive.

Likewise, if you feel that you know of a book which expands on a time or event that you found readable and enjoyable, I would like to add it to the Further Reading section of the relevant page; please contact me.
